MOOT COURT Competition

The Law Faculty student teams have been participating in the National Moot Court Competition in the field of International Humanitarian Law since 2003.

Moot Court is a simulated court proceeding where students are given a hypothetical case containing fictitious facts on an armed dispute and required to resolve the problem by applying the legal provisions of the International Humanitarian Law (on law of war). In the proceedings, students may play different roles (e.g. legal advisors, negotiators, representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross, prosecutors, defence counsels, etc). The team comprises 3 students and a coach who is in charge of preparing and training the team. The Moot Court competition is organized in several eliminatory cycles, which all the teams run through. Only two best teams get qualified for the finals. The teams are evaluated by a panel of experts in the field of International Humanitarian Law.

The Law Faculty student teams have achieved remarkable results in former Moot Court competitions. In the 2005 Competition held at the Faculty of Law in Belgrade, our team won the first prize. The winning team included the following students: Tamara Đurđić, Dušan Pavlović and Borko Milošević, and the team coach ass. mr Nebojša Raičević, LLM, a Teaching Assistant in Public International Law. In 2006, the same team took part in the International Jean Pictet Competition in Interantional Humantarian Law. In 2007, the Faculty student team won the National Moot Court Competition held at the Faculty of Law in Novi Sad. The team included the students: Sanja Đorđević, Anđelija Adamović and Ivan Ilić, and Ivana Vučković as a trainer. The first prize in the national competition qualified the Faculty student team for participation in another International Jean Pictet Competition which was held in Switzerland from 19-21th April 2008. The team coach was dr Nebojša Raičevic, LLD.
